About
In 1983 the Twenty Minute Workout appeared on our televisions. It featured 3 very fit young women in tights, leg warmers, sweatbands and body suits. The Aerobic generation was born. In 1984 I attended my first aerobics class and I was hooked.
I was never involved in sports in school – I was always the smallest and afraid of getting hurt; however, aerobics was something physical that I could do. I loved it!! I attended as many classes a week as possible.
In the fall of 1984, I completed the Fitness Ontario Leadership Program and became a fitness instructor. At that time I was a stay-at-home Mom, so I taught a morning class every weekday. After moving to Paris in 1985 I instructed at Darby Fitness until I returned to the workforce full time in 1987. Even after going back to work in an unrelated field, I continued to instruct classes at various locations for at least one night a week over the following ten years.
Since 1984 I have held memberships at a number of local gyms and continued to maintain my own personal fitness program. Occasionally I would employ a personal trainer to give me some new ideas and enhance my workout. It was five years ago when I decided that there is a need for more mature trainers, particularly female trainers to work with women my age and that decision has taken me to where I am today. I am a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, certified through Can-Fit-Pro and I have completed a year long Yoga Teacher Training course at Welkin Wellness Centre.
My first priority is to help you follow through on your goals to a healthier you.
Be well,
Marj Haire FIS, PTS, CYT
